He was born in France in 1765. He had served in the army under Napoleon Bonaparte. He studied lithography, a form of printing, but he couldn't draw. He and his brother discussed about reproducing images using light as early as 1793 and began his experiments in 1816. They invented the internal combustion engine. He created the first successful permanent photograph through a camera obscura. he recorded the view from his work room window to the paper. He exposed the film for eight hours . He also invented the heliograph which is the technique he used to create the first photography.
